About Sunloop UV
Last updated
Sunloop UV shows today’s UV and sun protection times for every Australian suburb and beach. It’s free and doesn’t need an account. It answers one question fast: do I need to protect my skin right now?
Why we built it
Australia has some of the highest UV levels in the world, yet fewer than half of Australian adults know that daily sun protection times are published at all. The information exists, but it’s often buried in a long weather forecast or tied to the nearest capital city. We wanted a page for your own suburb that gives the answer in a sentence, then shows the detail for anyone who wants it.
Who it’s for
Anyone heading outside, from the school run to a day at the beach. Schools and childcare centres can add a free widget to their website, with a “Hats on” mode for playground duty.
How it works
UV forecasts update every hour for small grid areas across Australia. In each capital city we also show live readings from ARPANSA’s UV sensors. Our methodology page explains how we turn forecasts into sun protection times, and our sources page lists every data provider.
What Sunloop UV isn’t
Sunloop UV gives general information, not medical advice. It’s not affiliated with any energy, solar or skincare company, and it doesn’t sell anything.
